Crowdsourcing has become a crucial data source for service providers looking to understand their customer’s experience and prioritise improvements. The continued influx of this information is set to face challenges in 2021 however, with Google demanding detailed justification for the collection of background location collection from mobile apps from the 31st March.
Many developers are electing to turn background location collection off altogether in order to prevent their applications being penalised or otherwise delisted from the Play Store. For operators, this is going to have a negative impact on the amount of samples coming from their existing third party crowd data providers.
The good news is that operators can look to implement their own route to crowdsourcing by integrating a lightweight SDK into their existing billing and VAS applications whilst remaining compliant with required data and privacy guidelines. We work with our customers to provide a fast and flexible process which is fully automated and allows them to bring crowd initiatives into a controlled ecosystem, and under direct control.
